Long Ridge Library is a welcoming library and community center housed in a historic schoolhouse. Located on a scenic Long Ridge Road in Danbury, Connecticut, at the border of Bethel and Redding, it serves Danbury, Redding, Bethel, Ridgefield, Brookfield, and surrounding towns.
Founded in 1919, the library has served the Long Ridge area and surrounding communities for more than a century, guided by its long-standing motto, “As we master life we live.”

Known as a local hidden gem, the library blends a love of reading with a deep connection to local history. Its thoughtfully curated collection includes books for adults and children, as well as valuable local history materials, biographies, and works related to theatre and the arts. Many items have been generously donated over the years by prominent Long Ridge authors, artists, and community members.

In addition to quiet and inviting reading spaces, the Long Ridge Library serves as a gathering place for neighbors through programs and events that celebrate learning, conversation, music, and creativity, including talks and events featuring local authors and artists.
The library’s purpose remains what it has always been: to provide an inclusive community space that fosters connection, curiosity, and a shared love of reading.
